Getting it Right Together - identifying gaps in the Local Offer, consultation and engagement

Here in Newcastle we want to make sure that our Local Offer is really something everyone in our SEND community feels part of. That means making sure the services that are out there deliver the right things and that we work together to identify things that might need to change.

We know you are experts in your own lives and it is important to us to make sure we can learn as much as we can from your experiences and expertise. We don’t just want to have a website, we want to make sure that our offer is for and about people’s real lives.

Over the coming years, we will be working closely with Newcastle University’s Digital Interaction Group and our families to design the future of the local offer.  The Digital Interaction Group are interested in Digital civics. This means working with communities to come up with innovative approaches to having control over services they use. They can help us design new ways of doing this, which fit with your lives and reflects your needs.

This is very much a long term approach and not a quick fix. We want to set this up really well and have our SEND communities working with us in lots of different ways to change the way we do things.

This approach will involve, children and young people, parents and carers as well as people who deliver services

We want your Local Offer to grow and evolve and be accessible in lots of different ways, working with you will help us get it right.

In the meantime if you want to get involved in any way please contact us at localoffer@newcastle.gov.uk.
