Headliners (UK) North East Team

Headliners (UK) is a well respected charity that supports disadvantaged young people to have a voice.

Headliners (UK) has a 27-year track record of inspiring children and young people to investigate and challenge the world around them. We work across the UK providing personal development, multi-media journalism, participation and volunteering programmes.

We have a dedicated team in the North East based out of our Newcastle office providing programmes of activities to young people all over the North East.

Headliner’ work enables and empowers children and young people to share and amplify their voices so they are heard. We use multi-media programmes to help young people learn new skills, engage with other people from different backgrounds and give them the means to make choices in their own lives.

Headliners supports children and young people aged 8-25 years including those from a disadvantaged background, care leavers, from black and minority ethnic groups, low economic backgrounds, with special educational needs, refugees or seeking asylum. Through our unique programmes, children and young people research and produce stories for publication/ broadcast about issues that concern them and helps them make good choices in their own lives. Our programmes improve confidence, skills, resilience and aspirations and we involve YP in decision making from project to strategic planning.

We have worked with over 13,000 YP and they have produced over 6,500 stories on issues important to them. Last year we engaged 654 YP, 380 designed and delivered community social action projects, 140 registered for accreditation in journalism and digital skills, 90% of young people said they felt their contribution was valued, 89% said they felt more confident and were more positive about the future.
