Newcastle City Learning are continuing to offer study programmes to learners aged 16-18 and to those aged up to 25 with an EHCP.
Due to the current Covid 19 situation, our ways of delivering learning have changed. However, we are continuously working to ensure that our learners are supported and receive a meaningful learning experience which is individualised to their needs.
At this present time our learners are receiving tutoring via online delivery and distance learning techniques, to achieve their programmes. This involves using online classroom systems to deliver learning. Tutors are still offering 1-1 support, differentiated learning and individualised feedback to ensure our young people succeed.
As part of our current online study programmes, young people study preparing for work and life, complete Maths, English and a vocational qualification.
Our young people have embraced the new ways of working, and we have had positive feedback about our online learning programmes.
Within this programme we have three different study pathways, New Direction, New Trax and New Venture. These programmes can accommodate the needs of young people across the city.
To establish which programme is most suitable, we meet all of our young people and their parents/ guardians or carers to explore these pathways, prior to starting programmes.
From September 2020, and the assumption that lockdown regulations are relaxed, we anticipate that our offer will be a blended learning approach. This may involve some face to face learning as well as online. We are awaiting further guidance as to how to we can deliver our programmes but are committed to ensuring that our young people still receive a high level of education and learning.
