Alternative Provision Directory

The Newcastle Alternative Provision Directory provides information on locally available learning and support that can be arranged for young people for whom the mainstream curriculum is not entirely appropriate.

Responsibilities of commissioners

Professionals should understand that responsibility for checking, quality assuring, managing and monitoring any provision lies with the school or other establishment that commissions the provision.  More detail on these responsibilities are set out in the ‘Alternative Provision – guidance for commissioners and providers (April 2017)’, which can be located through the download link on this page

Responsibilities of providers

Organisations whose provision is hosted on this Directory also have key responsibilities when arranging and delivering alternative types of learning and support.  These responsibilities are set out in the ‘Alternative Provision – guidance for commissioners and providers (April 2017)’, which can be located through the download link on this page.
