Better Days

Better Days is a user-led organisation of adults with learning disabilities who consider the barriers to going out and about in the North East and then come up with projects to address those barriers.

Activities you can get involved in

Cycling groups

We offer 3 different levels of cycling: Experienced, Beginners (assessment and training by qualified instructors) and Adapted (trikes and quads)

We have 7 adapted bikes, 2  Berg four wheelers,  2 Draisin wheelchair tandems,1 Berg two seater/tricycle, 1 Quest 88 excelerator handcycle, 1 Draisin Relax Semi recumbent tricycle. £5 per bike.

 Taster days

Join us on our trips out every year, such as the Americana Music festival at the Sage or bowling

Monthly Activity Days

Enjoy yoga and the fun of playing indoor golf, curling and bowls


Join us in the Exhibition Park and Brandling Park or one of our other gardening projects

Special Olympics

Every Thursday morning we attend Special Olympics training which consists of running, javelin, shot put, football amongst other activities. This is either at Gateshead Stadium or Leisure centre.

Safe Places

We are the lead charity in Newcastle for the Safe Places Scheme. 

Safe Places is a nationwide scheme which helps people with learning disabilities deal with any incident that takes place whilst they are out and about in the community.

We offer training on

  • Victim Support
  • Equality 
  • And more!
