Learn Youth Mental Health First Aid skills to support young people in our underserved communities  - book places now to learn new skills to help child and young people with their mental health and wellbeing.

This course qualifies you as a Youth Mental Health First Aider, giving you: 

  • An in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues 
  • Confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening 
  • Knowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s through self-help sites, their place of learning, the NHS, or a mix – engaging with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate
  • Ability to support a young person with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive
  • Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing

 
We are offering this course 
fully subsidised due to funding from our NHS CT Tackling Inequalities for Children project and in partnership with amazing charities based in communities across the region who have been directly impacted by the pandemic.  This offer is for Network members (worth £360 per participant) and by registering to take part you agree to pay the full cost of the course to the Network if you do not attend or cancel at least 48 hours prior the course starting.
 
Pre-requirements of the course

  • To be a registered member of the Child Health and Wellbeing Network
  • Be over 16
  • Work with children and young people within an underserved community
  • Agree to pay full cost (£360) of course for non-attendance
