The Cedars Nursery

The Cedars Nursery was first opened in 2002, and in that time we have created a warm and welcoming environment where our children can thrive and be enthusiastic about their own learning and development.

We are a large Victorian mansion which is set in its own grounds, we are very fortunate to have extensive fully enclosed, safe and secure, outdoor, space which includes a nature trail, large wooded area and well-kept lawns where the children can learn about the natural environment and enjoy activities on a larger scale which are better suited for the outdoors.

We recently purchased both children's and staff waterproof clothing which enables the outdoor environment to be accessed and enjoyed whatever the weather. We also have a large car park enabling parents access to hassle free drop offs and pickups.

For families to gain access to the building a new intercom system has been recently installed which, enables staff to see on a screen who is waiting at the door and whether they can open the door to them or not. When first entering the building you are greeted to a warm and bright large hallway which consists of a downstairs children's bathroom, our teaching and learning space where children can engage in smaller group learning time, the entrance to our Swans (3-5) room, a door leading to the Managers Office and a door that leads to both our kitchen and staff room. We also have access to our nursery garden in this hallway. There is a very large staircase which has wooden banisters on either side to help children to climb the stairs safely. When you get to the top of the stairs you are met with a large landing area, off that are numerous doors leading to various rooms. One leading to our sleep room, one to the Cygnets room (2-3), one to the staff bathroom and another to the Babies and Ducks room (0-2). There is also a door leading to another hallway in which you will find the Cygnets bathroom.

Notes

The nursery is situated in an urban area on the busy Westgate Road. There are a wide variety of amenities nearby including a drop in centre, many shops and take away establishments and we are close to Newcastle General Hospital. When our children leave to go to school there is a varied list, as some parents work in Newcastle but travel in from various areas as the nursery is in close proximity to the City Centre.

The nursery is open for 51 weeks of the year and opening times are 8am until 6 pm, we also offer an 'Early Bird' (at an extra cost) to open at 7.30 am, in any one day we can take up to 82 children. We have a large car park for parents to drop off and pick up their children.
