The Children's Foundation

We are a registered charity set up in 1990 in Newcastle upon Tyne, at a time when the North East had the worst levels of child health in the country (Government report Health of the Nation 1990). Our ‘Yellow Brick Road Appeal’ raised £12M to build The Sir James Spence Institute of Child Health, a home for research into childhood ill –health, a building we gifted to the NHS. In return we occupy a small office within the building and are supported by the Trust with IT. So, while we have NHS emails it’s important to stress that The Children’s Foundation receives no statutory funding at all.
Today we continue to improve the health and well-being of children and young people from birth to 18 in the North East by Making Serious Stuff Fun!
We are a warm and caring space because:
We have a quiet and calm space for people to chill out in.
Each session has a maximum of 12 young people and 3 youth workers.
Parents and carers can contact us to discuss individual needs.
Parents and carers can arrange with Robson, on the mobile number provided, to visit youth workers beforehand.
