Childsplay Claremont Nursery
Childsplay Nursery was established in 1982 as a "not for profit" cooperative and has been working alongside families successfully ever since. Childsplay retains their Ofsted judgement as an OUTSTANDING provider, our most recent inspection dated 5 December 2019.
The Nursery building is bright and spacious, separated into five nursery units; related to age and stage of development. We are very centrally located, situated close to the campus of Newcastle University and within easy walking distance from the centre of Newcastle. We have an ideal location for enjoying short walks to two large parks, children’s theatres and museums, as well as having our own large inspiring outdoor play area. This offers challenging opportunities encompassing early maths, science and learning in nature, which also compliments our forest school programme.
A range of extra activities are available within the Nursery, these include; forest school sessions, allotment sessions, French and Spanish lessons, theatre and museum trips, as well as wider community outings either by walking or by mini-bus (library, art gallery, farms).

Cost
Length of session is 4 1/2 hours or full day 9 hours.
Deposit is 50% of monthly fee - refundable when child leaves.
Fees are based on a sliding scale, to be paid on the first day of each month. The fee covers attendance at all pre-booked sessions. If your child is absent for any reason (for example, sickness or holiday) the monthly fee is still payable in full. The nursery closes for two training days per year, between Christmas and New Year and on all statutory bank holidays. The fee structure takes prior account of this and accordingly no reduction can be made in the monthly fee for any days when the nursery is closed.
Our fees include all organic produce used for healthy snacks, meals and drinks throughout the day. Nappies and formula milk are also included in the cost, as well as outings to forest school, allotment, theatre and other educational visits which support the interests and projects of the older children.
When a placement commences or ends during a month the fee for each session may vary. Contact nursery for details.
