Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice
Gateshead learningSkills in partnership with the North East Youth Alliance are pleased to announce a Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice (England), accredited by ABC.
This nationally recognised qualification is built on the new National Youth Work Curriculum and Occupational standards, developed by the NYA (September 2020)
Eligibility The course is open to Youth Work practitioners, over 18 years old, who are working in a paid or voluntary capacity with young people between the ages of 11 to 25years old, for a minimum of 12 hours per week. Learners will need to be qualified in English and Maths (min level 2) or be willing to work towards these qualifications.
Management Support Practitioners will need the support of their Youth Work Project manager and colleagues, as a significant part of the learning and assessment is work based practice.
Assessment Course assessment will be a mix of pre course work, written assignments, evaluated work-based practice, practical projects, witness testimonies and observations. Learners will develop a portfolio evidencing knowledge, skills and work-based evidence.
Course Fees The total fee cost is £1,500
The organising team are continuing to seek additional external funding to reduce the Learner costs.

Venue - None residential days - Bensham Grove Community Centre, Sidney Grove, Gateshead, NE8 2XD
Venue -Weekly Tuesday evening sessions – Gateshead Interchange Centre, West Street, NE81BH
Timescale The course will start with 2 none residential days at Bensham Grove Community Centre on May 22nd 10am until 4pm and the 12th June 10am until 4pm and run for 30 weeks. The weekly sessions held on a Tuesday Evening 5pm until 8pm will start on the 14th June at the Interchange Centre Gateshead.
- There will be a break for 6 weeks over the summer between July and September *
Dates An introduction meeting for project managers and candidates will be held on the 10th May at 5.30pm at Bensham Grove Community Centre.
Delivery Team The Course will be delivered by a qualified , experienced team of 3 Senior Youth Work Practitioners drawn from the Statutory and Voluntary sector. It will be internally verified by a qualified and experienced Youth Work practitioner and externally verified.

Detached and outreach work in Youth Work
Facilitating Youth trips and residentials
Principles of supporting Young People with regard to relationships and sexual health
