SEND school transport update

SEND school transport update

The rising number of COVID cases in Newcastle is having an impact upon our home to school transport service for children and young people with SEND.

With the help and support of our commissioned transport providers, we have managed to deliver a high level of service during the pandemic, and hope that this will continue to the end of the summer term.

However, this is becoming increasingly challenging as more cases are identified which inevitably lead to both children and workers everywhere needing to self-isolate. Please understand that we are doing our very best in this difficult time and we ask for your understanding and support.

We know how important it is for your children to arrive at school safely, and we only ever cancel arrangements when we have no alternative. If your child’s transport has to be withdrawn, please remember that you can apply for a Personal travel budget. This will give you funds to assist you to make your own arrangements to get your child to school and home again.

You can request a PTB at any time, it is not binding and you can ask for normal home to school transport to be reinstated should you wish. You can find out more by contacting our SEND Transport team on 0191 2774646.
