North East Young Dads and Lads (NEYDL)

Kev Stoodly, Founder & CEO and Doug Laidlaw, Project Manager are from the award winning North East Young Dads and Lads (NEYDL) charity that works with marginalised and disadvantaged young dads and expectant fathers (aged 25 and under) in the North East region of England. They provide non-judgemental help, support, and friendship to help young men play a full, constructive, and positive role in the lives of their children, families, and communities.

This is delivered by a dedicated team of trained Peer Supporters, all of whom have lived experience of being young Dads themselves, the Dad2Dad Peer Support Project will provide a variety of support to young dads and dads-to-be as well as support through their trained Young Fathers Support Workers, and the Teen Dads Project will provide both 1:1 and peer supported group work opportunities to young dads and dads-to-be aged 18 and under only.

Help offered includes:

• Individual help and support to address the key challenges.

• Support to ‘get out of the house’, meet new people and try new things

• Family focused activities including ‘Stay and Play’ sessions, trips, and outings

• Father focused social activities (including cycling, football, outings, and video gaming)
