SAFE - counselling

Local charity Children North East are running the SAFE programme, which offers counselling to victims of sexual abuse aged 5 to 18 (or up to age 25 for young people with SEND) from the Northumbria area. Each young person can access up to 20 one-to-one sessions delivered by specialist counsellors trained in a range of therapy techniques.

The programme is also able to provide home-based support to the family and other important people in the young person’s life, providing help on how to support and safeguard them during recovery and beyond.
