Welcome to Circus Central, Newcastle's finest Circus Arts hub! We bring people of all ages and abilities together to have fun, develop skills, perform, and gain qualifications. At Circus Central, you become part of a thriving community. We offer something for everyone from the curious beginner to the die-hard professional! We also offer provision for schools, community organisations and events.
We're a circus school! You can learn to fly in the air on a trapeze, silks or aerial hoops, do acrobatics, walk on stilts, ride a unicycle, juggle, hula hoop, and more.
Couch to 2k – is our new pilot project improving young people’s fitness, health and well-being. Referrals come via Paediatricians at The Great North Children’s Hospital. Our Youth Workers then support young people to run 3 times per week in Leazes Park Newcastle, building up to a timed 2K at the end of 4 weeks. To encourage participation and remove barriers for young people to get involved, each young person receives an e- voucher to purchase sports clothes, trainers etc. and they also receive a basic fit-bit watch and Children’s Foundation water bottle.
Following on from a successful 2020 summer scheme we now offer a weekly kids surf club suitable for 8-16 year old’s at various times throughout the year. This is in partnership with South Shields Surf School with an emphasis on fun and fitness in a friendly environment. Instructor lead sessions provide children with an opportunity to try something new, meet new people, engage in a physical activity and learn new skills.
We offer a range of outdoor and adventure activities including canoeing, paddle boarding, climbing, multisports, Duke of Edinburgh, coasteering, archery and loads more.
We accomodate school parties from year 2 upwards. Our activities and packages can be delivered on-site at your school or off-site, dependent on the activity. We have lots of options to choose from, with a huge variety of activities available. Our primary school options focus on skills such as resilience, problem solving, planning, and leadership.
We use a range of venues around the North East.
We offer children aged 6-14 the opportunity to gain skills for life from practical skills, to life skills, to nights away experiences.
We run drop in and closed groups for children and young people. Some of these are focused around a particular activity (such as Sporty Legs, where we play sports and explore faith together) and others are focused around a particular location (like the Byker and Walker bubbles that currently meet once a week). We even run a bible study using board games to explore faith! All these spaces are shaped by the young people that attend, and include space to have fun, learn new skills, and grow together. We also run toddler groups for families with younger children.
Equestrian and Activity Club providing opportunities for young people aged 8 to 18 to learn more about horses and take part in activities such as treasure hunts, workshops and trips. Membership is free and there are lots of opportunities to undertake more formal learning about horses too. Come along and make lots of friends and help look after our gorgeous horses and ponies.
