Amidst growing concerns around the Cost of Living Crisis, our team began to compile a list of resources and where to find help to share with the Connected Voice staff. As the list grew, we felt it would be helpful to share this information publicly on our website.

Rainbow borrowers is a toy loan service which runs alongside a play session for children under 5 yrs. These sessions are dedicated for children with additional needs and their families.
We are run by Newcastle Action for Parent and Toddler Groups Initiative (NAPI) who support and give advice to toddler groups across the city. If you would like to contact us for any reason please ring 0191 2656158.
It’s free but please note that booking is required for sessions.

A weekly social facility exclusively for young people with MILD to MODERATE additional needs or disabilities.
Our HUB facilities off young people the chance to meet in a safe environment, where they can socialise outside school, form new friendships, and acquire the skills necessary to become more confident and independent. The sessions encourage young people to explore a range of activities and gain informative and quality life skills, through a variety of socialising activities, games and arts & crafts.

Support group for parents who have a child with difficult to manage behaviour including ADD and ADHD.
Group meetings take place alternate Wednesday's and Friday's, 10am-1pm.

For young people aged 15-25 with additional needs. There is lots of arts and crafts and other activities.

The club is open for all disabled young people and those with learning difficulties aged 13-28.
Includes an evening meal and an activity run by Newcastle United Foundation which normally involved a lot of running around.

Youth Link Newcastle runs a specific service for young people living with a disability, including SEND. Youth Link matches young people working towards a goal in their life to a peer mentor… someone of a similar age who can support them.
The service is available to young people living in a Newcastle Postcode, aged from 11 to 18.
You may have a goal in mind, or someone you know may have suggested that a peer mentor would be great way to overcome a challenge you are facing.

Social Activities Programme is for young adults aged 18 – 25 years.
This is a great opportunity for young disabled adults to take part in a range of fun centre-based social activities alongside local community outings.

Wizzybug is a fun, innovative powered wheelchair provided FREE of charge to young children in the UK by Designability, a charity based in Bath.

For adults 18+ - all abilities welcome. The sessions are aimed at young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The first 20 participants will receive free tickets to the NUFC womens game at St James in November.!

This May Help, is a new national initiative providing mental health advice to parents and carers. This May Help is aimed at parents and carers who may have concerns about their child’s mental health and is part funded by the Quality Improvement Taskforce for Children and Young People’s Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism Inpatient Services.

Newcastle Trampoline Park and Gym is located in the west end of Newcastle, providing excellent sport and leisure facilities for the local community. As well as a great gym which features a great range of Technogym equipment, we have a separate women only gym and the studios offer a great choice of fitness classes including Group Cycling. With new Technogym bikes recently added come along and give them a try. For children the centre boasts one of the newest Soft Play structures in Newcastle.

In the heart of Byker, this is one of the newest gyms in Newcastle, the 70+ station gym features the latest Technogym equipment. We have recently extended our Strength area and added a range of Hammer Strength machines. We have a large studio offering an extensive fitness class programme including Group Cycle, Power Pump, Yoga and much more. We also have a virtual studio where you can enjoy hundreds of classes on demand. There's two great swimming pools. A 25m pool for casual and lane swimming and a teaching pool which is home to the Better Swim School.
