Walkergate Community Primary School is a true community primary school. Our aim is to make sure that every child does the best they possibly can. To achieve this, we work in partnership with all of our families and schools in the local community. We have the highest expectations of behaviour and work really hard to ensure our school is a safe, happy environment.

Welbeck Academy opened on 1 September 2012, in the former Welbeck Primary School, to serve the population of Walker and Byker in the east end of Newcastle upon Tyne and provides a first-class education for children aged 2 to 11 years.  We are proud to be sponsored by WISE Academies and fully support the WISE ethos of aiming to be outstanding in all that we do.  We are rightfully proud of the academy's provision which helps children to grow as individuals whilst aiming for the highest academic standards.

West Denton Primary School was built in 1955, when it was opened as a separate infant and junior school occupying two floors. In the early 1970’s, as a result of the introduction of the 3-tier system, the school became a first school occupying the ground floor

An annexe containing 4 classrooms and a separate nursery pre-fab was also added during the 1970’s these have now been demolished and a new extension was built in 2001.

At West Walker Primary school all children are encouraged to achieve success and develop a life-long love of learning through a relevant, broad, balanced, stimulating and memorable curriculum.  At Westerhope Primary School we believe that all our children are special and unique. Sacred Heart is a one form entry Roman Catholic Primary School in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. We are proud to be the parish school of St. Robert's Church in Fenham, Newcastle and have a rich history and tradition which dates back more than 100 years. The present school was built in 1995.

Canning Street is a unique school situated in the inner-west of Newcastle and draws children from Benwell, Elswick and West City. Our vibrant, modern school is at the heart of the local community and is often referred to as being “an oasis”. The school serves a very diverse population comprising a wide range of ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds. This area of the city is well-served by a range of community support groups and services.

St Charles’ is a 210 place single form entry Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary school with a 52 full/part time place Nursery.

All staff, both teaching and non-teaching, play a valuable part in supporting the development of our children.

We have a Governing Body comprising 12 Governors, Mrs Nealings is the Head Teacher and Mrs Higgins as the Deputy Head Teacher.

Excelsior Academy opened in 2008 and has since become Newcastle’s most improved secondary school, consistently judged as good by Ofsted. I am married with 2 adult children. I have a very friendly cat, a garden to play in that's when we are in. I like to take children to parks and play groups etc. I like play, crafts etc, etc.

Thomas Bewick School is a special school within Prosper Learning Trust in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is for children and young people between three and nineteen years with autistic spectrum conditions. All pupils have a Statement of Special Educational Needs/ Education Health and Care Plan or are in the assessment process. They have a range of learning difficulties; some will require a high level of adult support to access the curriculum, whilst others achieve close to age-related expectations in some areas.

We follow Early Years Foundation Stage led by children’s interests, access to a large attractive outdoor play area. We are part of Sure Start East and lead setting for South Heaton Children’s Centre.

I run a toddlers group on a Friday and attend  childminders drop ins and messy church.We regularly visit the local library and parks, we organise and plan together summer outings ie: to the beach, sea life centre, and the farm. We attend sessions at the local childrens centre such as dance sacks, art and craft, and story time.
