Who are we?

Targeted Provision is a leading provider of relationship-based tutoring and mentoring for young people who find it difficult to learn in the mainstream environment.

What do we do?

  • We provide tutoring and mentoring for children and young people (from early years to post-16) who find it difficult to learn in the mainstream classroom.
  • Mainstream education may not have been an easy journey - or accessible at all - for our young people. We offer a nurturing educational experience, tailored to their unique strengths, interests and aspirations, helping them to find joy in learning again and make progress towards social, emotional and academic goals.
  • All our tutors are qualified teachers with a minimum of 3 years of experience supporting young people with additional needs. Many have experience working in special schools, pupil referral units, and with public bodies, such as social services and CAMHS, to support young people. We match tutors to learners based on their specific experience supporting young people with similar needs and their demonstrable ability to help them reach their academic, social, or emotional targets.
  • Our approach to education is based on relational learning: we know that strong relationships, based on mutual respect and trust, form the foundation for effective learning, providing the emotional security required for a young person to explore new learning experiences with confidence.
  • Where appropriate,  tutors can support pupils in making progress towards SATs, GCSEs, Functional Skills, A-Levels and BTEC qualifications. They can also help young people feel more positive about learning or help them catch up if they’ve missed school or are finding it hard to keep up with their classmates.
  • We believe that a tutor alone is not enough, so we provide a Team Around the Child in the form of our SEND Support Team, which includes our SENDCo, Safeguarding Team, and SEND specialist staff. This team is responsible for pupils’ welfare and progress while in our provision and will work with tutors, schools, and families to ensure pupils’ needs are met.

Who do we help?

Schools and local authorities can refer pupils to us for targeted tuition with trauma-informed SEND specialist teachers for young people who:
