Vocational Profiles

right

  • Vocational profiles are detailed documents providing an overview of a young person’s individual skills, abilities, interests, preferences, and support needs in relation to employment. These profiles are particularly beneficial for young people with disabilities as they help create a tailored and effective approach to vocational training, education, and employment opportunities.

  • With a clear understanding of a person's abilities and preferences, vocational profiles help with decision-making around suitable career paths, training programmes, and employment opportunities. This helps individuals make choices aligned with their preferred skills and interests.

  • Vocational profiles help towards setting realistic and achievable vocational goals. They can help with planning the necessary steps and support systems required to reach those goals.

  • Vocational profiles also help communication among various providers such as the young person, education providers, employers, support services etc.  Working together to create an inclusive and supportive work environment and any resources or workplace adjustments, or additional training required.

  • Vocational profiles allow young people to understand and celebrate their skills and abilities and help with career planning.
