Cruse Bereavement Care Tyneside

Cruse Bereavement Care (CRUSE) is a national charity committed to promoting the well-being of bereaved people.  The organisation aims to help anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss.  It covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Cruse - Scotland is a separate organisation).

Patients may contact the national Helpline seven days a week (various times) which is run by trained bereavement volunteers who offer emotional support to anyone affected by grief, calling free on 0808 808 1677. The service is for bereavement support and not for general mental health issues.

They offer also an online group Understanding Your Bereavement session.

They are currently taking self-referrals from adults in Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside by email to tyneside@cruse.org.uk or by telephone on 0191 276 5533. Following assessment, should it be agreed that one-to-one support is appropriate, they offer up to six 1-hour sessions facilitated by a trained volunteer. Sessions are usually conducted via telephone or Zoom, sometimes in-person. Information and support may be obtained via the website at https://www.cruse.org.uk/ .
