Hawthorn - Social, Emotional & Mental Health ARP

The Social, Emotional and Mental Health  Additionally Resourced Provision (SEMH ARP) at Hawthorn Primary School is a specialised provision for children who struggle with their behaviour in a mainstream setting and need the benefit of additional support to access mainstream education in school.

The provision offers full-time mainstream education and additional access to:

  • Teachers with specialist skills and training;
  • Support staff with specialist skills and training;
  • Supported inclusion in mainstream lessons;
  • Additional Educational Psychologist time, where appropriate.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum to reintegrate your child in to mainstream education, wherever possible. The main objectives are the development of emotional resilience and appropriate social interaction. We aim to promote:

  • Self-esteem;
  • Confidence;
  • Management of behaviour;
  • Resilience and empathy;
  • Self-awareness;
  • Successful communication;
  • Positive relationships.

A request for a place will be made by the child’s school in consultation with Parents/Carers; placement will be subject to a decision made by an independent panel. The panel will also decide which SEMH ARP would be the most appropriate setting.

Parents/Carers are welcome to visit Hawthorn SEMH ARP by arrangement with the Head Teacher, if they want to find out more prior to an application being made.
