Curriculum
Our curriculum is carefully planned and guided by the Early Years Statutory Framework and Development Matters. Ensuring that every child from birth is supported to thrive, develop and learn at their own pace.
We encourage each child to grow and learn important life skills with confidence and independence such as toilet training, washing hands and putting on coats. We support children to engage in play supporting social skills, building relationships and friendships during their time with us.
Children have daily access to outdoor play providing opportunities to learn about the world around them. They are free to explore, discover and try out new experiences during planned activities.
During outdoor play children can develop their physical skills using a range of play equipment such as:
• balance bikes,
• trikes,
• slides,
• construction,
• mark making resources,
• mud kitchen
• sand and water play.
Within our daily routine we offer welcome time, a healthy snack, breakfast and drinks, music/ rhythm and song time, circle time including group games and story time, play, child-led play and adult-led activities. At lunchtime, children bring a packed lunch.
Children have access to different types of play including
• small world area,
• home corner,
• sensory play
• messy zone,
• mathematics play,
• construction area,
• loose parts play
• cosy story and chill-out zone.
We provide a happy, safe, inclusive environment with a caring staff team. Each child has a key person who works closely with the child, parents/ carers, and other professionals. We recognise that every child is unique and development looks different for each child. Our curriculum and routines are adapted to meet the individual needs of children attending our playgroup.
School drop offs
We offer a drop off service for children attending our setting as well as attending Kingston Park Primary School (nursery).
Children arrive at playgroup take part in playgroup routine, then have lunch before leaving for Kingston Park primary School. Children are walked safely to school. Parents then collect children from school as normal.
