Newcastle Careers Team

The Newcastle Careers and Guidance Team offers impartial and confidential careers information, advice and support to young people up to the age of 19 without an Education Health and Care Plan (EHC plan) if they live in Newcastle or attend a Newcastle school.  (Please note, young people with an EHC plan are supported by their SEN caseworker)

There are 2 parts to our offer, in school our support is targeted at the most vulnerable students who are most likely to become NEET (not in education, training or employment). We also offer a service from the Skills Hub in the Central Library for young people 13-19 seeking information, advice and guidance around career and education options, job search, apprenticeships and job vacancies.

Work with young people with Special Educational Needs with EHC plans (Education, Health Care Plans) is now undertaken by the SEN team and for young people of secondary school age and above the contact would be Kay Harrison kay.harrison@newcastle.gov.uk .

We are keen to work with partner organisations and the voluntary sector to support young people in their transition from school to the world of work. We would welcome referrals and we are happy to work with young people not only face to face but also by phone or online if that is more appropriate.

We have appointments and a drop-in service at the Skills Hub on the 2nd floor of the Central Library on Tuesday -Thursday 10am-5pm. Also on a Monday afternoon at the Nunsmoor Centre 2pm - 4.30pm.
