Housing Advice Centre - Newcastle City Council

If you need housing advice, if you are at risk of homelessness or you are homeless and have nowhere to stay, please contact the Housing Advice Centre. Staff at the Housing Advice Centre will assess your situation and give you free confidential advice with the aim of helping you to keep your home or assisting you to find one that meets your needs.

We provide advice and assistance on a range of housing problems, including landlord/tenant disputes, housing options, housing benefit and homelessness. Our specialist debt advice team is available to advise you  on all financial issues.

  • 0800 1707 008 (Mon-Fri, 8.30am to 12pm and 1pm to 4.30pm)
  • Out of hours: 0800 1707 008 (Press 2 for the Operator and ask for the Emergency Homeless Officer (Mon-Fri 5.30pm to 8am, Sat-Sun 8am-8am (24 hours))

Our team does not provide a specialist benefit advice service but we do offer Newcastle residents some general support with benefit issues. For example:

  • Giving people general information about benefits
  • Directing people to specialist benefit advice, information or benefit administrators, or
  • Possibly phoning Jobcentre Plus or the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), writing or helping to write a support letter or completing a benefit claim form.
