Northbourne Youth Initiative

Northbourne Youth Initiative was set up in 2000. We are based in an end terrace house on the estate we have always had a presence in the local community and are embedded in the local area. We are a local charity working with those who need us most. Many are from the estate, but we are targeting a wider remit now, as we grow and are able to offer more services for young people.

Our Junior Activities are for children 8-13 year olds, and run 4 evenings per week. The activities are designed to give a balance of fun play activities and informal learning opportunities. We have open access sessions, football, arts & crafts, in-house awards, cooking schemes and AQA unit awards; meaning we can recognise the achievements of everyone who takes part.

Senior activities are designed for 13-19 years. We have 4 sessions per week which run Monday-Thursday, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award makes up two of these.  We also run a girl’s group and a football project as well as open access and focused group activities. If you have an idea let us know and we will try our best to make it happen with your help.

We offer a warm, caring and kind place where young people can be themselves and mix with others.

We are in an end terrace house, and we have very much maintained this homely vibe.

We always say come along one and see if it's for you, most people return and make lots of new friends along the way!

We have a quiet/calm space for young people to chill out in.

We offer small group work/activities.

We can offer peer support/buddying if required.

Parents/carers can contact staff to discuss individual needs.
