Pendower Good Neighbour Project

Our Project works with residents of Pendower Estate, in the west end of Newcastle to improve their quality of life and to make the estate a great place to live and bring up your family. We are based in a small neighbourhood centre on the estate.

We work on:

• The provision of free and low cost food through an informal food bank distributing surplus food, a food pantry, providing cookery sessions for young people, a lunch club and providing hot food at group sessions including holiday activity sessions.
• Providing developmental opportunities and better chances for children and young people through after school activities for 2-16 year olds. We have a programme of summer holiday activities and residentials and providing volunteering opportunities for young people
• Improving housing and environmental conditions and amenities and services for the estate We work in partnership with residents and relevant agencies including the police, housing officers and other council departments and council members.
• Capacity building and improving quality of life through informal training, healthy living initiatives, credit union, community events, environmental initiatives such as recycling and growing projects.
