A parent and toddler group is a welcoming and friendly group of adults. This includes mothers, fathers, childminders or carers.
They all come together in their own community with their children who are under the age of 5.
Parent and toddler groups offer play opportunities for children from birth to 5 year old, as well as an opportunity to mix with others. They also offer support to adults and a break from the normal routines of the day.
Booking maybe required at some groups.


A friendly and relaxed group to enjoy with your children aged 0 to 5.
For children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
Every Wednesday 10am to 11am during term time.
No need to book.

These sessions are open to families with a pre-school aged (0-5) disabled child.
The children can access all our normal facilities including the:

Our Early Years Lead Leanne Johnson-Read is available to chat with parents.
Children must be supervised at all times.
Β£4 per child (babies under 1 year old are free).


The preschool is situated within the Blakelaw and Cowgate Families Matter Community Hub located on Lindfield Avenue nest door to Thomas Walling Primary School. Children have access to a wide range of developmentally appropriate good quality toys and equipment. We have At Home Bags that allow parents/carers to help their children continue their learning in their home environment. Staff are all qualified in Early Years with some staff having qualifications of Level 4 and above.

Our FREE junior sessions are a safe space for children aged between 5-12 years to come and socialise, play freely, learn about the world around them and take part in activities like;
- arts and crafts
- cooking
- gardening
- group games
- sports
The sessions are led by the children, they choose what they would like to do in their youth clubs and plan their activities. Snacks and drinks are available in all sessions.

Walbottle Village Primary - We are a Primary school in the Outer West of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Our Nursery is open to children from the term after their third birthday.
Walker Central Junior Football Club. Teams from under 7s to seniors.
Next generation coaching every Thursday.
This group is for ages 8-13.
Open space for arts, crafts, sports, games, trips and discussions around life and faith.

A program consisting of free weekly workshops taught by professional artists, performance opportunities and go sees for ages 4 β 17yrs.
Snacks and refreshments are also provided at the weekly workshops and no dance experience is required.
Monday: Aged 4-7 years. 4 - 4:30pm
Monday: Aged 7-12 years. 4:30pm-5:30pm
Thursday: Aged 12-17 years. 5-7pm.

Ways to Wellness is a Newcastle-based charity that works with partners across the public, private, and voluntary sectors. We test and develop new healthcare interventions and ways of working to help people take control of their health. Our work reduces health inequalities and evidences cost savings for the NHS.



Welbeck Academy opened on 1 September 2012, in the former Welbeck Primary School, to serve the population of Walker and Byker in the east end of Newcastle upon Tyne and provides a first-class education for children aged 2 to 11 years.
