Our vision is that North Benwell will not be considered disadvantaged or deprived. We wish to see the young people of North Benwell enjoy the same possibilities of life as their peers in other areas of Newcastle upon Tyne.
The young people of North Benwell will generate their own hope for the future and be the agents of their own destinies.
Detached sessions allow the North Benwell Youth Project to engage with potential users and meet young people in the street.

Do you know gardening is good for your mental health?
It's a good excuse to get out of the house for some fresh air and gentle exercise!
Pick a task or an activity at our community allotment or sensory garden.
Spend a couple of hours at the allotment, working at your own pace.
Have a break and a cuppa in out sensory garden, watching the birds and wildlife.
Come rain or shine we are here in any weather. It's lovely to work in the polytunnel when it rains!

Family hub on a Wednesday evening 5:30 – 7pm, we provide a hot meal and arts, crafts and activities.
Children over 8 years can attend without an adult.
Children 5 years to 8 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
50p for children - no booking required
This group is for ages 8-13.
Open space for arts, crafts, sports, games, trips and discussions around life and faith.
Come and join in - we play sports, DJ, drink hot chocolate, play with chalk, chat, create spaces to mark life’s big events, and generally enjoy the company of Byker and Walker’s young people.
Susan our community cook runs this friendly social cookery session where you can come along, cook with women from all over the world and eat together.
An online community group specifically for the LGBT+ community and allies. Hosts 'THE HUB' live on Pride Radio FM 89.2 and DAB.
Meets in central Newcastle Wednesday afternoons in a safe space and is open to anyone 15-25 years of age who identifies as Trans/non-binary.

Riverside Community Health Project is running three new short courses, Food Allergies and Risks Level 2, International Cooking, Recipe for Success. As well as their Friday Woman’s Group.

The service supports young people living in Newcastle, through a range of projects offering holistic support, information and advice. All interventions are delivered with the Barnardo’s Trauma Informed practice. Projects include: The Independence Project: Young People aged 12-18 years. 1:1 support, for up to 6months. Support offered at early help level, around emotional wellbeing through a social prescribing model. |
All Valued are accessible films about tackling hate, extremism and radicalisation. The films feature:
- stories and advice from people in our community
- a rap about checking your values
- pause and reflect activities to help people talk through some of the issues presented in the film
The films were produced as part of The Twisting Ducks Building A Stronger Britain Together project, funded by the Home Office
A group for current volunteers and anyone else who is interested in becoming a Barnardo's volunteer.

It is easy to feel alone when caring for a child with additional needs. Come along and meet with other carers who understand.
Quadrant main focus is to work with children and young people most in need and hard to reach including those with disabilities or additional needs.
Our provision over the years has seen us work within educational settings offering after school clubs, holiday clubs, mentoring and personal development programs.
We have also developed our first SEN exclusive drop-in club for young people.
Food bank open every Monday and Wednesday morning 9am to 12pm.

Cornerstone is a project set up by local churches in Benwell. Everyone is welcome.
Cornerstone is a designated Safe Place for people with learning disabilities.
Culture Exchange is a culturally diverse group which meets every Friday.
