Newburn Activity Centre is a registered non profit charity, ran by a local community trust. The centre is located on the outskirts of Newcastle about 6 miles from the city centre. We aim to provide a wide variety of activities at an affordable price to the community.
Reimagine cricket with our all-weather backyard cricket events or BYC. Play casual cricket all year round with us and test yourselves against the best. Be an old pro or a beginner taking baby steps into the game, play cricket as it is meant to be.
Holiday provision only
This is a warm, caring and kind place to be because:
Cricket, games, food and fun this summer! We run free summer holiday camps for children aged 5-12. If your child gets free school meals, they can join us!
Each day includes:
- Cricket and other sports
- Dodgeball
- Football
- Creative activities like painting or clay modelling.
- Cooking lessons and more
A hot, tasty meal will be provided for every child.

The Bostey is a well-connected project in Walker and an established member of the Walker Workers group. They play a leading role in planning and developing collaborative projects with other partners in the East End of the City. Their services are aimed at local families, children, and young people. The team deliver youth sessions over 5 days per week as the demand for our services have increased.

Everybody knows somebody!
We all know somebody that has affected by domestic abuse, and we can all help. We can help you find the information and skills you need, if you’re worried someone you know is being controlled, scared, or hurt by their partner, ex-partner or family member.
Family Play Sessions for all children with parental supervision
Dates:Tuesday 29th July and 5th, 12th and 19th August 2025
Time: 9:30am-1:30pm
For all children with parental supervision (siblings can come too!). Priority places will be given to children in receipt of free school meals.
Activities to include indoor and outdoor play session, crafts, food exploration and sensory play.
Lunch will be provided for the children registered via Sportsfin, from 12.00—12:45pm

All sessions are 10am to 2pm
North East Dance are providing FREE Dance and Fitness sessions. Session for children aged 5-12 years old who receive FREE school meals.
The sessions are a mix of dance and fitness styles including Street Dance, general dance, Zumba, and much more.


Community Counselling is a FREE service managed by NCAT in partnership with Newcastle College. This service provides support to people who are currently facing personal difficulties including; Depression, Anxiety, Low self-esteem, Bereavement, family issues, domestic violence, suicide and many others. This service is for Men, Woman and children.
No appointment needed.
If you would like to weigh your own baby please follow the guidance poster at the venue using the QR code. This will tell you how to weigh your own baby.
Please note this is self-service – no members of the Health Visiting team will be present.

We don’t just provide footwear at Grassboots. Over the last few months we’ve given out numerous items of baby clothing, pushchairs, baths, cots and accessories to families and individuals who are really struggling.

We offer a varied programme of activities throughout holidays. There are physical activities to get you moving and passive activities too, such as Arts n Crafts.We organise trips to the seaside and funfairs too. Events like Magic show and 'Glow in the dark disco'. Hot or cold food is provided free for those entitled toschool meals.
