A fuel poor household is one which needs to spend more than 10% of its income on all fuel use and to heat its home to an adequate standard of warmth.
Three things that contribute to fuel poverty are: the cost of energy, the energy efficiency of your property and your household income.
At Byker Sands Family Hub we have packs containing items and information that will help you make positive changes in your home. These changes will make your home more energy efficient with the aim of reducing energy bills.
The West End Hub is open Mondays 10am – 4.30pm, Wednesdays 10am – 2pm and Friday 10am – 4.30pm.

At Changing Lives we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their potential. We are experts in working with people experiencing the most challenging of circumstances, providing holistic support to help people to go on to lead happy, fulfilling lives. We work across four – often interconnected – areas to address the most common causes of social exclusion and long-term deprivation:
- Housing and Homelessness,
- Recovery and Wellbeing,
- Women and Children,
- Employment and Training.
Due to the large volume of people seeking support from us with social housing applications. Riverside Community Health Project have sourced information from Newcastle Homes and created the informational poster attached.
We are an ever expanding Childcare provider for the North East. We can offer a range of services to suit the needs of all requiring childcare. Tinies only use fully checked nannies, early years workers who have been interviewed and hold relevant qualifications. We can provide creches for weddings, charities and corporate events. We can offer supply and temp staff for nurseries to cover sick days and recruit for long term positions. The team at Tinies are always happy to answer any questions and very happy to discuss your requirements small or large.
