Supporting families with Fuel Poverty

A fuel poor household is one which needs to spend more than 10% of its income on all fuel use and to heat its home to an adequate standard of warmth.

Three things that contribute to fuel poverty are: the cost of energy, the energy efficiency of your property and your household income.

At Byker Sands Family Hub we have packs containing items and information that will help you make positive changes in your home. These changes will make your home more energy efficient with the aim of reducing energy bills.

We can also provide information on other services such as:

Green Doctor who can offer practical solutions to reduce your energy costs.

Northern Power Grid's Priority Services Membership which can ensure you are as safe and prepared as possible if there is a power cut.

Citizen Advice Newcastle who provide one to one advice and support to people experiencing difficulties with their energy costs or who are at risk of fuel poverty.

Contact Byker Sands Family Hub on 0191 2759636 and ask to speak to Rosie to request a pack, for advice or referrals.
