Excelsior Academy opened in 2008 and has since become Newcastle’s most improved secondary school, consistently judged as good by Ofsted. Trinity Post-16 Solutions Ltd offers bespoke packages to young people aged 16-25 who have additional support needs.
Learners who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LLDD) are provided with a study programme that equips them with the skills needed for adulthood.
EHCP outcomes are at the heart of the programme to equip learners to: Live as independently as possible; prepare for employment and the world of work; become involved in social and community activity; live a healthy lifestyle.

Pathways 4 All is a parent-led charity, providing leisure services for children and young people with disabilities/ additional needs (0-25 years old). Our primary service is a specialist play and activity provision, the Tim Lamb Centre (in the grounds of the Rising Sun County Park, Benton). Our centre is open to families from across the North East region.
Heaton Community Complex offer full day care places, a Playgroup, an Out of School Club with Holiday scheme and Crèche Facility.
We follow Early Years Foundation Stage led by children’s interests, access to a large attractive outdoor play area. We are part of Sure Start East and lead setting for South Heaton Children’s Centre.
Heaton Community Centre is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation 1161406. We offer full day care places, a Nursery, an Out of School Club with Holiday Play Scheme, Onsite and Offsite Crèche Services.
We follow Early Years Foundation Stage led by children’s interests and development. We are part of Sure Start East and link families into Sure Start services. We consult with parents and complete online learning journals to track progress. Healthy snacks are included in both our childcare services and our stay and play sessions.
Riverside Community Health Project works according to community development principles to improve the health and well-being of disadvantaged communities by acting with others to ensure appropriate service provision.

The Alan Shearer Activity Centre is the only one of its kind in the North East offering free recreational, sensory and social facilities for disabled children and adults, their families, schools and groups.

A travelling multi-sensory resource for children with disabilities, their families and friends. Activities include music, storytelling and creative play. Sensory Spaces appears at festivals and family events in the region.
Sensory Spaces was set up to address the needs of all children at local events and to encourage families to attend. The aim is to provide a safe, relaxing space where children can listen to music and stories, explore their creativity, dress up, play and have fun.

Rainbow borrowers is a toy loan service which runs alongside a play session for children under 5 yrs. These sessions are for children with additional needs and their families.
We are run by Newcastle Action for Parent and Toddler Groups Initiative (NAPI). We support and give advice to toddler groups across the city. Please ring or email for further details.
