The Lighthouse Project

The Lighthouse Project arose from our passion for working with young people on the Byker Estate and the frustration with the lack of purpose-built facilities in the area to support this work. Our mission was to create an inspiring youth and community space in the heart of Byker that will support quality youth and community engagement and have a lasting impact on the community of Byker for many years to come.

We aim to: 

• To provide safe and welcoming spaces where young people and the community can flourish and live life to its fullest.
• To partner and work with organisations that support young people and the community.
• To be a place at the heart of the community where young people’s voice can be heard and provide a forum for such conversations
• To help reduce poverty and deprivation in the area

We have some amazing things to offer over the summer holidays. Our memberships are now ready for signing up. Parents/guardians need to register and add your child on to the memberships. Once they are signed up you can then book them onto any sessions that they'd like to do over the summer.

Our Open Access Youth Sessions start on Monday 21st July and we have separate age groups for this: 

• Ages 8 to 11 years Monday and Wednesday from 5pm - 7pm
• Ages 12 to 16 years on Monday from 7.30pm - 8.30pm
• Ages 16 to 19 years on Wednesdays from 7.30pm - 8.30pm 

We also have a 30 place summer HAF Programme for 8-16 year olds with fantastic activities such as Nourish Food School, Active Future, Stomping Ground, Breakdancing, Drumming, Creative activities and possible occasional eSports sessions included and delicious food. They are running from 10.30am to 2.30pm on a Thursday and Friday all the way through the holidays. The Lighthouse Project Best Summer Ever 2025

We also have some sessions on Tuesdays and the occasional Wednesdays to book. these will be posted on our social media when finalised so keep an eye out!
