Autism North East is a Social Enterprise, non-profit-making organisation providing assessment, diagnosis and intervention for children, young people and adults where this is a concern related to an Autism Spectrum Condition. 

Beacon Films CIC is a training and production organisation for people with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs.  We have been given multiple awards for our work.

Throughout the year, we offer a variety of filmmaking projects.  There are also some volunteering opportunities on short film commissions.

The sporting facilities at Benfield School, part of the Newcastle East mixed multi Academy Trust (NEAT), are used by the pupils through the school day and then the doors open to the community. The community programme is run by two separate organisations that make use of the school site during evenings, weekends and school holidays.

I am a very reliable, caring, friendly, OFSTED registered childminder. I provide a well equipped and stimulating safe environment for children of all ages. I provide various interesting activities for both indoor and outdoor experiences to enhance learning and development in children. I work with the parents to achieve positive result in the caring of children. We often visit various places such as Sure Start centres, parks, local libraries, farms, beaches, museums and shops etc. 

We currently provide activities during the school holidays only.

Café Beam is a place where young people can learn to work in a café environment. They help prepare food, serve customers, handle money, and more. The café serves delicious, home-cooked food using fresh, local ingredients from Ouseburn Farm.

Benefits of Joining

Cafe Beam at Ouseburn Farm provides a fabulous environment for young people with disabilities and learning difficulties to gain hands on work experience and learn new skills and develop confidence.

We are looking for regular volunteers to provide practical support for our youngsters usually for one morning or one afternoon on a weekly basis.  This role is extremely rewarding and varied and you will acquire a real insight into the operational side of our organisation as well as gaining valuable experience in working with people with special needs.

Based at our Cowgate Centre site, its profits help keep our life-changing services accessible to babies, children, young people and their families.

Cambian Dilston College is an independent specialist provider of further education in North East England, offering day and up to 52-week residential placements for young people with a learning disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and complex needs.

Canning Street is a unique school situated in the inner-west of Newcastle and draws children from Benwell, Elswick and West City. Our vibrant, modern school is at the heart of the local community and is often referred to as being “an oasis”. The school serves a very diverse population comprising a wide range of ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds. This area of the city is well-served by a range of community support groups and services.
