AKT in the North East supports LGBTQ+ young people (16-25) who are homeless or living in a hostile environment.

Newcastle Treatment and Recovery is a dedicated service for anyone in Newcastle experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol. We are here to help you get well and stay well. We believe recovery from addiction and substance misuse is possible for everyone, and we’re here to help you achieve it. Our aim is to make recovery a reality in Newcastle – whether you’re dealing with problematic drug or alcohol use or helping support others that are.
Streetwise provide a range of health and wellbeing support services for young people aged 11 - 25 year olds.
Young people aged 13-25 can access the full range of contraception, sexual health, C-card (free condoms), Chlamydia testing, pregnancy testing. Workers offer support around wider issues such as relationships, drugs, alcohol and any other issues facing young people. We will signpost on to other services where appropriate.
We have a counselling and mental health service offering support around mental health and well-being for young people aged 11-25.







PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide provide confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through the helpline, HOPELINE247.
We engage communities and volunteers in suicide prevention projects and deliver training programmes to individuals and groups. This includes equipping local councils, healthcare professionals and school staff with suicide prevention skills.

We are providing young people with reassurance and advice to help them make positive choices for their mental health and know what to do next if they are struggling.

We are here to help you take on any challenge you’re facing - from mental health to money, from homelessness to finding a job, from break-ups to drugs. Talk to us via our online community, on social, through our free, confidential helpline or our counselling service.

Join our friendly, weekly drop-in sessions in the West End of Newcastle. The perfect place to meet new friends, have fun and get free confidential advice and information.

Our vision is that North Benwell will not be considered disadvantaged or deprived. We wish to see the young people of North Benwell enjoy the same possibilities of life as their peers in other areas of Newcastle upon Tyne.
The young people of North Benwell will generate their own hope for the future and be the agents of their own destinies.
These sessions mean that a young person can speak to workers as and when they feel the need of support or advice, or often when a crisis arises.

For Teenagers.
Detached sessions allow the North Benwell Youth Project to engage with potential users and meet young people in the street.

For girls aged 11-13.
The group offers opportunities to explore life and relationship issues and practise life-skills such as planning and organising in a safe environment. This will also help to build self-esteem and confidence.

The FAB (Fantastic and Brilliant) Group is a group of young people aged 11 to 25 who have SEND.
Every month, the FAB Group come together to make friends and share experiences.

A group ran by North Benwell Youth Project. NBYP wish to see the young people of North Benwell enjoy the same possibilities of life as their peers in other areas of Newcastle upon Tyne: the young people of North Benwell will generate their own hope for the future and be the agents of their own destinies.
These sessions are led and coordinated by Gem Arts and funded through Youth Music, to support local organisations to offer structured high quality music sessions to young people delivered by professional musicians.

During group clubs, there are opportunities to
- explore life and relationship issues
- practise life-skills such as planning and organising in a safe environment,
- building self esteem and confidence.

The Mums group currently meet every Thursday afternoon and has been running for over 4 years now.
It is a relaxed space where young women can meet with or without their children. They can have a coffee and chat, share information and advice, support each other when life seems tough, which can help to reduce feelings of isolation. Importantly the group always manage to have a laugh together.
