Housing information, advice and enquiries
A fuel poor household is one which needs to spend more than 10% of its income on all fuel use and to heat its home to an adequate standard of warmth.
Three things that contribute to fuel poverty are: the cost of energy, the energy efficiency of your property and your household income.
At Byker Sands Family Hub we have packs containing items and information that will help you make positive changes in your home. These changes will make your home more energy efficient with the aim of reducing energy bills.

We work across four – often interconnected – areas to address the most common causes of social exclusion and long-term deprivation:
- Housing and Homelessness,
- Recovery and Wellbeing,
- Women and Children,
- Employment and Training.
We are a small independent business which relies on donations and has no other source of funding.
We do corporate events, bird control, group bookings.
We also offer Flying owl experiences where you not only get to handle a variety of owls but to fly some as well - £20 per person.
Full flying experience includes the handling of birds, flying owls and Harris Hawks - £40 per person.
