Retina UK is the national charity for families living with inherited retinal dystrophies. We fund research and provide information and support to those affected by inherited sight loss and the professionals who support them.
We support anyone with the following visual impairments: Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), Rod Cone dystrophy, Cone Rod dystrophy, Choroideremia, Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA), Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), Usher syndrome, Stargardt disease.

About Arthritis Action
Founded in 1942, Arthritis Action is the only UK charity giving hands-on, practical help to combat the pain of arthritis through self-management and lifestyle advice. We offer people with arthritis a holistic self-management approach, looking at both the physical and mental aspects of arthritis.


EDNE aims to help people in Tyneside, Wearside, Northumberland and County Durham whose lives are affected by eating distress, or eating disorders. We do this by providing a range of services including individual counselling, mindfulness courses, a support group for carers, health topic workshops, information and training. We also work in schools and other settings to increase knowledge and awareness of eating distress and its effects.

The North of Tyne PALS works within all NHS services in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. We're here to help when you need advice, want answers to questions, want to know who to talk to or find out how to get help.
As a patient, relative or carer sometimes you may need to ask someone for on-the-spot help, advice and support. This is where the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) comes in.
We focus on improving the service to NHS patients. The service provides:
Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG)
Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group is a leading children’s cancer charity and the UK and Ireland’s professional association for those involved in the treatment and care of children with cancer.
Over the last 40 years, CCLG has played a key role in the major improvements in survival rates and the standards of care for children so that over 80% of children are now cured. We are the central hub for childhood cancer through the specialist expertise of our members.
Young Epilepsy is a national charity that supports the 112,000 children and young people under 25 with epilepsy in the UK.
There is a huge demand for information and support for parents and professionals and a need to improve access to, and quality of, health and education services.
We have a range of services including our helpline, health information resources, training courses for professionals in health, social care and education and the promotion of good practice in schools.

Our vision is a world where people with HIV live healthy lives free from prejudice and discrimination, and good sexual health is a right and reality for all.
We care for children and young adults with progressive, life shortening conditions from across the North East.
Our team of skilled staff provide residential short breaks to local families. Up to six children and young adults can stay at any one time in our relaxed, home-from-home environment.
Children from birth to 18 can benefit from short breaks here. Teenagers benefit from their own living area – complete with games consoles, wide screen TV and PC’s.
We also care for young adults aged 18- 25 in designated, age-appropriate facilities.

St Cuthberts Care is a leading North East charity providing specialised services for some of the most vulnerable members of our communities. Our work is often focused on providing services which fill the gaps left by other providers who find our areas of work unattractive or too high risk. We focus largely on:

Free advice and assistance for anyone affected by leukaemia, lymphoma or any malignant blood disorder including patients, carers and family. Help includes benefits advice, grant applications, financial issues, housing and employment. Advice is provided by telephone and appointment as well as home and hospital visits. This service is funded by the Kay Kendall Leukaemia Fund.

Samaritans of Tyneside have been in Newcastle-upon-Tyne since 1965 serving the local communities of Newcastle, Gateshead and south-west Northumberland. Now based at 15 Portland Terrace, Jesmond, NE2 1QQ, we are near Jesmond Metro Station and on the B1600. Unfortunately, we are unable to see face to face callers at the Branch right now, but our volunteers are still going in every day to answer the telephone and reply to emails.

Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity exists to grant the wishes of children who are living with serious or life-threatening illnesses between the ages of 3-18 who live in the United Kingdom.
Our dedicated wish team responds to all wish applications within two weeks. We do not operate a waiting list, but give every wish our immediate attention.

Medequip Connect is a nationally based organisation who currently provide services to over 10,000 people nationwide. Our objective is to be of benefit to the community and in particular to provide reassurance and support to older, disabled or vulnerable people allowing them to remain safely in their own home. We operate in areas throughout the United Kingdom and offer specialist responder services in Cumbria, Suffolk and Oxfordshire
We give people coping with a lymphatic cancer diagnosis the right information and support when they need it most
When someone is told they have lymphoma it is often the most difficult experience they have ever faced. Many people have never heard of lymphoma before they or someone close to them is diagnosed and don’t know anything about it. They often feel shocked, frightened or hopeless.
Riverside Community Health Project works according to community development principles to improve the health and well-being of disadvantaged communities by acting with others to ensure appropriate service provision.
Programme of centre and outreach activities for parents, including:
Streetwise provide a range of health and wellbeing support services for young people aged 11 - 25 year olds.
Young people aged 13-25 can access the full range of contraception, sexual health, C-card (free condoms), Chlamydia testing, pregnancy testing. Workers offer support around wider issues such as relationships, drugs, alcohol and any other issues facing young people. We will signpost on to other services where appropriate.
We have a counselling and mental health service offering support around mental health and well-being for young people aged 11-25.

Provides dental care for pre-school children, school children, those with special needs, learning disabilities, medical problems or severe anxiety and any other clients who are unable to find a dentist.
Clinics are available at Arthur's Hill Clinic (check website), Kenton Health Centre, Molineux Street NHS Centre and Walker Centre. You can contact the service directly.
The community dental department provides a full range of dental treatment for patients who are residents of Newcastle and who fit one or more of the following criteria:

At any given time up to 40% of adults and 50% of children (this rises to 80% with a SEND diagnosis) have difficulties with their sleep.
Yet in a recent survey, almost 60% of adults felt there was a lack of support for sleep issues.
Sleep problems can leave people feeling isolated and lonely.
Our free helpline is run by trained sleep advisors, many of whom are specialists in working with SEND. We can talk to young people directly, or parents (we can also talk to adults, including older people, about their sleep issues).
In collaboration with Newcastle University, Children North East are conducting a consultation with children and families who struggle to access healthcare settings in the North East.
This campaign from Public Health England focuses on helping families make healthy food swaps by using the Food Scanner app.
