Drug & alcohol use can threaten and ultimately destroy family relationships and wellbeing. We empower family members and carers, support frontline workers and influence decision-makers to stop this happening.
Honest information and support about drugs.
We want to encourage people to reduce their consumption of alcohol – and reduce the impact that alcohol is having on the North East.
How are we doing this?
This is achieved by three key areas of activity:
Alcohol change UK is a leading UK alcohol charity, formed from the merger of Alcohol Concern and Alcohol Research UK.
Alcohol is a part of many of our lives. We use it for celebration, for comfort, to socialise, to wind down, to cope. We treat it differently to other drugs; it’s legal, socially acceptable, even encouraged.
Yet in the UK one person every hour dies as a result of alcohol. Alcohol harm – mental health problems, liver disease, one of seven forms of cancer, economic difficulties, and so much more – can affect any one of us, from any walk of life.
NTaR covers all of drug and alcohol services within Newcastle and is an ageless service.
Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust are the lead provider in partnership with Humankind and Changing Lives under the name of NTaR.
Our Private Treatment Services combine comfortable, quality accommodation; with outstanding therapy programmes that are proven to support your recovery from addiction and help improve all aspects of your life. Situated directly on Blackpool’s North Shore and Promenade, Ocean Recovery Centre is considered a perfect location for addiction recovery.
The CQC registered drug and alcohol rehab clinic boasts high-quality accommodation across three floors, with superb views of Blackpool Beach and the Sea, Ocean Recovery combines comfort and homely, with an intensive programme of therapy and treatments for drug addiction and/or alcohol addiction.
We're here to help adults and young people in Newcastle with all sexual health and contraception needs.
Our service offers advice, information, testing and treatment for sexual health issues, whilst also providing an online option for testing and treatment and hormonal contraception to make it more convenient for you.
Gateshead and Newcastle Homeless Service provides an assessment and treatment service for people who are homeless or who are living in insecure accommodation and who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health.
The service is for men and women over the age of 18 years who are homeless or living in insecure accommodation who require a period of assessment and treatment. In some circumstances someone aged 16-18 years old may be offered an assessment then referred to an appropriate service.
The service is provided by staff working out of Community Treatment Teams.
The Street Triage Team operates across Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, areas. The Team aims to improve access to mental health services and avoid preventable detentions when using section 136 of the Mental Health Act.
We are one of the UK’s leading providers of mental health services who work both privately and with the NHS to help people and families experiencing mental and emotional difficulties to get better.
Get professional support from the UK's leading mental health, autism, and ADHD service.
This website aims to provide support and advice to parents and children who want to know more about bedwetting. Some of the site is written in a style for children, in case parents would like their children to view these sections. We hope to be able to answer some of your (or your child’s) questions and offer some guidance around what you can do to help or stop the problem.
