Groundwork North East has been working in the heart of the North East & Cumbria for over 30 years, changing places and changing lives. In April 2022, Havannah First School was created when Broadway East First School relocated to Newcastle Great Park and changed its name to reflect the new location. This move has been planned for a long time and we are delighted to now be in our wonderful, state of the art brand new school and grounds. We are still part of the Gosforth Schools' Trust and are part of the Gosforth three tier Pyramid.

Newcastle Careers Team are holding careers advice drop-in sessions for 16-19 year olds that live in Newcastle. 

We can offer advice about careers and jobs, apprenticeship vacancies and applications, training opportunities and study options such as 6th form, college courses or Study Programmes.

Bringing together 4 successful North East based entrepreneurs, students will hear the personal business journeys of the speakers as they delve into successes, failures and how they went about creating their own businesses. Confirmed speakers include Jane Meynell, Founder of Olive & Bean and Steve Rawlingson, CEO of the Samuel Knight Group with operations in the UK and USA, with additional speakers to be confirmed.

The Big One draws together a huge number of Newcastle Hospitals Trust professionals to meet young people and inform them about career opportunities within the NHS. With a morning and afternoon session targeting different Key Stages, students will engage with around 10 different departments to learn what it’s really like to work with people who have health concerns.

The Radiography Department at the Freeman Hospital are inviting us behind the scenes to understand what Radiographers do, what you need to become one and to physically see some of the diagnostic machines in action.

It was developed by Autistica and King's College London.  Adults with autism were consulted throughout the development of the app.

Free, safe, confidential support for young people

Children and young people in Newcastle and Gateshead can now get help from mental health counsellors using a free online service supported by the NHS.

Kooth.com is an award-winning online counselling and support service which is now available to all young people in Newcastle and Gateshead aged 11-18 years.

Pax Mediation was previously known as Family Mediation North East. We can help you settle disputes over children, property and finance without the distress and financial cost of going to court. 

We know that every family is different and that you are the expert when it comes to your children, finances and home. We also know that sometimes it gets too complicated and distressing to see things clearly. Pax Mediation can lend a helping hand when you need it most.

Cruse Bereavement Care (CRUSE) is a national charity committed to promoting the well-being of bereaved people.  The organisation aims to help anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss.  It covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Cruse - Scotland is a separate organisation). 

Skills for People helps disabled children and adults and their families to be in control and to have better lives. We also work with children with special educational needs.

We offer help with planning, meeting other disabled people and their families, advocacy, advocacy groups, social activities, self help meetings and individual development. We work with people who have an individual budget and those who do not.

Children North East exists because growing up can be hard. We want all babies, children and young people to be happy and healthy and to grow up feeling:

We have a strong children’s rights ethos and believe that real social change is achieved when those who are, or have, experienced issues lead the change.  

We pride ourselves on offering high-quality, person-centred and outcomes-focused services which give value to the people we serve and are responsive and effective for referral agents.

A Specialist service for people who's lives are affected by someone else's alcohol or drug use. PROPS can offer one to one work, peer support groups, and training around substance misuse. They also offer carer and family training, respite breaks and an emergency out of hours telephone helpline. PROPS also work with young people 11+ who have been impacted by someone else’s drug or alcohol misuse.

If you are struggling with any mental health issues, for whatever reason, we are here to help you.

Our One to One counselling service helps you (as long as you are aged 9 to 25 years old) with your mental health issues. Our friendly counsellors are expertly trained which means we can help you by using a variety of therapy techniques. Whatever the issues affecting your life we are here to help. This includes depression, anxiety, bullying, self-harming, loss and bereavement.
