Atkinson Road is a popular, thriving and vibrant school. We are situated in the heart of the west end of Newcastle and have been serving our community for over a century. Welbeck Academy opened on 1 September 2012, in the former Welbeck Primary School, to serve the population of Walker and Byker in the east end of Newcastle upon Tyne and provides a first-class education for children aged 2 to 11 years. The Newcastle Careers and Guidance Team offers impartial and confidential careers information, advice and support to young people up to the age of 19 without an Education Health and Care Plan (EHC plan) if they live in Newcastle or attend a Newcastle school. (Please note, young people with an EHC plan are supported by their SEN caseworker)

The Incredible Years® evidence based parenting programs focus on strengthening parenting competencies and fostering parent involvement in children’s school experiences, to promote children’s academic, social and emotional skills and reduce conduct problems. The parenting programs are grouped according to age: babies (0-12 months), toddlers (1-3 years) and preschoolers (3-6 years)
We will be running a new Strengthening Families Group starting end of September on Thursday evenings
First session will be 28th September 2023 at 5pm - 7pm at Byker Sands Family Hub.

The Mums group currently meet every Thursday afternoon and has been running for 4 years now.
It is a relaxed space where young women can meet with or without their children. They can have a coffee and chat, share information and advice, support each other when life seems tough, which can help to reduce feelings of isolation. Importantly the group always manage to have a laugh together.
This course is ideal for you whether you have been out of work for a while or recently out of work and would like support to move into employment, self-employment or further training.
Through this 5-week course, you will be supported to increase confidence & motivation and to think about & put a plan in place to help you to move forward and take your next steps.

Time to Talk Next Steps is free support for young people in England in this age group with additional needs. It is for young people who are experiencing anxiety, isolation and who have limited or no plans for the future. You may be in school or in college or have finished all education and be unsure how to move forward.

Becoming a parent or caregiver is often thought of as one of the happiest experiences of our lives. However, we know the reality can be much more complicated and for some, can be overwhelming.
If you are finding it hard to cope, you are not alone - it is OK to ask for help. Little Minds in Mind is a service for parents and caregivers who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship with their baby, during pregnancy or after their baby is born.
Support to look for work; complete job applications and CVs; practise interview skills and practise English, Maths and ICT.
North East Counselling Services (NECS) knows that sometimes parents and carers may be concerned about the emotional wellbeing of their children.
This is to support ages 16-25 year olds. For North Benwell Families only.
Staff are on hand to offer advice and guidance, help with C.V.’s, applying for online courses, applying to college, applying for benefits and settled status applications too. There are laptops and P.C.'s and printers available to use.
We can also support young people with housing issues, apostils, document identity, opening bank accounts, and navigating the universal credit system.
