The Regional Disability Team, based at Walkergate Park in Newcastle, is a specialised, multidisciplinary rehabilitation team for people with long term, complex, neurological conditions. The service provides assessment, treatment, information, advice and support to individuals and their families and carers.
Team members provide:
Rowanwood is a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) based at the Carleton Clinic in Carlisle. It is a mixed sex ward with ten single rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities. Rowanwood is a Cumbria wide inpatient unit that offers intensive nursing support and therapeutic interventions to people who are assessed as requiring high levels of care in a safe and secure environment. The unit is designed for short term care (ideally no more than eight weeks) but length of stay is determined by the clinical needs of patients and their move towards recovery.
Hadrian Unit is a high risk needs-led acute psychiatric ward for the whole of Cumbria based at the Carleton Clinic in Carlisle. It has 22 beds providing assessment, care and treatment by a multi-disciplinary team.
Stephenson: a seven bed low secure unit providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for patients aged between 14 and 18 years with mild to moderate learning disability and a requirement for high levels of supervision in a safe environment.
The Street Triage Team operates across Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, areas. The Team aims to improve access to mental health services and avoid preventable detentions when using section 136 of the Mental Health Act.

Since our launch in 2006, we’ve experienced a steady increase in children accessing, and benefiting from, counselling. This has been even more so over the last 2 years as we move through the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Place2Be is a children’s mental health charity with over 25 years’ experience working with pupils, families and staff in UK schools.
We provide mental health support in schools through one-to-one and group counselling using tried and tested methods backed by research.

The Little Journey app has been designed by healthcare professionals, children and their parents for the sole purpose of improving how we provide medical information to families about hospital. It was created with the aim of reducing any anxiety you or your child may have, by familiarising you with what may happen and the team looking after you. Information is delivered to children and their parents based on the findings of research studies performed in the UK and abroad.
Shout is the UK's first and only free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone who is struggling to cope.
We launched publicly in May 2019 and we’ve had more than 1.7 million conversations with people who are anxious, stressed, depressed, suicidal or overwhelmed and who need in-the-moment support.
As a digital service, Shout has become increasingly critical since Covid-19, being one of the few mental health support services able to operate as normal at this time.

Single Point of Access (SPA)
The Single Point of Access (SPA) is for young people with a GP in in Newcastle and Gateshead requiring a mental health assessment or intervention.
Referrals will be reviewed and triaged so young people are referred to the right service at the right time for onward assessment and treatment or advice and guidance.

Pathways 4 All is a parent-led charity, providing leisure services for children and young people with disabilities/ additional needs (0-25 years old). Our primary service is a specialist play and activity provision, the Tim Lamb Centre (in the grounds of the Rising Sun County Park, Benton). Our centre is open to families from across the North East region.
Heaton Community Complex offer full day care places, a Playgroup, an Out of School Club with Holiday scheme and Crèche Facility.
We follow Early Years Foundation Stage led by children’s interests, access to a large attractive outdoor play area. We are part of Sure Start East and lead setting for South Heaton Children’s Centre.
Heaton Community Centre is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation 1161406. We offer full day care places, a Nursery, an Out of School Club with Holiday Play Scheme, Onsite and Offsite Crèche Services.
We follow Early Years Foundation Stage led by children’s interests and development. We are part of Sure Start East and link families into Sure Start services. We consult with parents and complete online learning journals to track progress. Healthy snacks are included in both our childcare services and our stay and play sessions.
