Children come to us for 1 hour 15 minute sessions twice a week, during which time they participate in interactive maths and literacy courses that are tailored to their needs and mapped to the National Curriculum. The centre acts as a positive, fun learning environment and concentrates on improving the child’s confidence and self esteem so that they can reach their full potential. Following this they can play with other children in ‘Surf Club’ with board games, interactive activities, arts and crafts, quizzes and challenges.
Tutorfair was founded with a simple idea and a promise. We offer an easy way to find the best tutors, while giving free tutoring to students who need it most. Our Supported Housing is delivered in partnership with local housing providers and offers people with substance misuse issues a structured package of support. Ridley Villas is supported housing that provides help for women who have children, who are living in Newcastle and Gateshead who need support with overcoming issues with drugs or alcohol, or both.
If you need housing advice, if you are at risk of homelessness or you are homeless and have nowhere to stay, please contact the Housing Advice Centre. Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) was established in 1971 (20 January) by the Royal College of Physicians. It is a campaigning public health charity that works to eliminate the harm caused by tobacco. We do not attack smokers or condemn smoking. The organisation is headed by the Chief Executive, Deborah Arnott, and governed by a Board of Trustees. The Duke of Gloucester is our patron.
While we aim to be innovative and agenda setting in our work, our policies are always evidence based and follow a dual approach:
A Specialist service for people who's lives are affected by someone else's alcohol or drug use. PROPS can offer one to one work, peer support groups, and training around substance misuse. They also offer carer and family training, respite breaks and an emergency out of hours telephone helpline. PROPS also work with young people 11+ who have been impacted by someone else’s drug or alcohol misuse.
If you know anyone who may be affected by drug or alcohol misuse, please contact us to make a referral or alternatively we would be happy to discuss this further with you.
MHM was established 30 years ago by families and carers in the North East to provide support and care for people they loved with mental health problems.
Today we have grown into a major national organisation supporting people with learning disabilities, drug and alcohol and other problems, as well as our core client group of people with mental health needs, across the UK through a range of evidence based and innovative services.
Dear Albert is a social enterprise which specialises in peer mentoring and making recovery more visible by bringing together existing resources. We have close links with peer support fellowships such as Smart Recovery, NA, AA and work in close collaboration with statutory funded drug and alcohol agencies, private rehabs, local authorities and substance misuse charities.
