Are you aged 18-25 and looking after someone who needs help and support?
If you are caring for someone who cannot manage without your support and you're not employed to do this, then you are a young adult carer. Anyone can become a carer at any point in their life. We're here to listen and support you.
Young carers are children and young people under 18 who look after a family member because they have an illness, disability, mental health condition, or addiction to drugs or alcohol.
We work in lots of different ways to help women through the law.
There are a number of advice lines providing women with free, confidential legal advice on a range of issues including domestic abuse, family breakdown, arrangements for children, rape and sexual assault, harassment and stalking and immigration. Start for Life focuses on services from conception to two years. This includes play and early learning sessions, health and wellbeing, parenting skills and support, antenatal support and breastfeeding. The Forced Marriage Unit (FMU) is a joint Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Home Office unit which leads on the government’s forced marriage policy, outreach and casework.
National helpline offering support to victims of forced marriage and honour based abuse. Honour crimes are not determined by age, faith, gender or sexuality, and Karma Nirvana work with all victims.
Journey Enterprises is a local north east charity which provides life-skills and employability training for young adult/adults with learning disabilities and autism. The Charity’s mission is to enable people with learning disability and autism to lead active, inclusive and fulfilling lives. Journey supports conditions such as Down’s Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Sotos, Prader Willi ,Fragile X, Cerebral Palsy and autism. Clients are referred in to service by councils/Local Authorities and the NHS. We also accept self-referrals. |

It is easy to feel alone when caring for a child with additional needs. Come along and meet with other carers who understand.
Quadrant main focus is to work with children and young people most in need and hard to reach including those with disabilities or additional needs.
Our provision over the years has seen us work within educational settings offering after school clubs, holiday clubs, mentoring and personal development programs.
We have also developed our first SEN exclusive drop-in club for young people.
At NYAS we are all about standing up for children and young people’s rights, making sure their voices are heard and that they get the help and support they need. We are very aware this is currently an unsettling and worrying time for children, young people and their families.

YMCA Newcastle is a community hub for young people. They run a range of activities throughout the week. Their youth workers are trained to offer confidential support and advice to young people.
