In April 2022, Havannah First School was created when Broadway East First School relocated to Newcastle Great Park and changed its name to reflect the new location. This move has been planned for a long time and we are delighted to now be in our wonderful, state of the art brand new school and grounds. The Barnardo’s Wellness Recovery Project offers free, person-centred 1-2-1 counselling for women and children (including families) across Northumbria who have been victims of, and witnessed, domestic abuse. The project is based in Jesmond at the Barnardo’s Orchard Mosaic offices but we also offer outreach support in schools and the local community where appropriate.

Referrals for counselling can be made by any professionals and self-referrals are also accepted.

What is The Angelou Centre?

Northumbria Victim & Witness Service is dedicated to helping people affected by crime in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

At Northumbria Victim & Witness Service we provide victims and witnesses with support after crime, regardless of who they are and their circumstances. Our service is independent, non-judgemental and confidential and we offer free advice after crime. We provide bespoke support, personalised to the needs of each individual.

The Sanctum service consists of safe accommodation for men and women who have experienced domestic abuse and who cannot access mainstream services of refuge for multiple reasons (e.g. if they have drug or alcohol issues, pets, older children etc). Service users are supported short-term for 3-6 months, during which they are provided with a safe hours, emotional support, signposting to long-term specialist services and support to help move them on safely and securely into their own long-term tenancy.

Services include Domestic Abuse Flexible Support (DAFS), flexible and structured support for women affected by domestic abuse to achieve and maintain safety and independence, and the Freedom Programme, an 12 week group programme enabling women to recognise the signs of domestic abuse and explore its impact so the process of recovery can begin.

You can access the Helpline if you have been affected by domestic abuse or if you are worried about someone you know.

Men's Advice Line is a confidential helpline, email and webchat service for male victims of domestic abuse.  They offer advice and emotional support to men who experience abuse, and signpost to other vital services that help men keep themselves (and their children) safe.

A free and confidential dog fostering service for people fleeing domestic abuse and going into refuge or other emergency accommodation.

Advice and support for Middle Eastern and Afghan women and girls living in the UK. Advice is available in Farsi, Kurdish, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish, and English on issues including domestic abuse, honour based violence, forced marriage, child marriage, female genital mutilation, separation and divorce, child custody, housing and benefits. 

RCTN provide services to women and girls who live, work or study in Tyneside and Northumberland. Their services are for women and girls over 13 who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives. Services include confidential counselling, advocacy, helpline, email support, specialist information and ISVA services. All of the services are free, safe and professional.
