ReCoCo Recovery College run a variety of creative, educational and support-based classes. All courses are free and open to anyone who would find them helpful in their recovery from mental illness, substance misuse, trauma or distress, or to anyone who might find them beneficial to their wellbeing.
It’s a place where people who experience or have experienced mental health difficulties can come together, make connections and develop their knowledge and skills in relation to recovery. It’s also a safe place to go when individuals feel that they are in need of extra support.
Making a Difference North East is a free employability service for unemployed people over 18, who live in Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside, County Durham, Gateshead and Sunderland.
They can help you prepare for or get back into work, with support and training to suit you. This includes:

NECS knows that sometimes parents and carers may be concerned about the emotional wellbeing of their children. Since our launch in 2006, we’ve experienced a steady increase in children accessing, and benefiting from, counselling. This has been even more so over the last 2 years as we move through the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What is Makaton?
Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate.
It supports the development of essential communication skills such as:
- Attention and Listening
- Comprehension
- Memory
- Recall and Organisation of Language
- Expression.
It is designed to support spoken language and the signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken word order.

New online mental health service launches in Newcastle and Gateshead

Ways to Wellness is a Newcastle-based charity that works with partners across the public, private, and voluntary sectors. We test and develop new healthcare interventions and ways of working to help people take control of their health. Our work reduces health inequalities and evidences cost savings for the NHS.
We are delighted to announce the launch of our new website for 4-7 year olds and accompanying guide for parents and carers.
The website is based on the three-episode Jessie & Friends animated series, which aims to equip 4-7 year olds with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to stay safer online. It is intended to be used by 4-7 year olds alongside their parents and carers, or within education settings as a learning tool.
Our Story
Daisy Chain provides a range of support services to autistic children and adults, either with a diagnosis or who are undergoing the diagnostic process, their parents/carers and their siblings.
Daisy Chain began life in 2003 as the dream of its founder, Lesley Hanson, whose son Jacob was diagnosed as autistic at an early age.

MindEd is a free educational resource providing education about children and young people, adults and older people's mental health for all adults.

Place2Be is a children’s mental health charity with over 25 years’ experience working with pupils, families and staff in UK schools.
We provide mental health support in schools through one-to-one and group counselling using tried and tested methods backed by research.
We also offer expert training and professional qualifications.

Children and Families Newcastle is the name of our collaborative approach across all services working with children, young people and families in Newcastle.
