Redesigning Children's Therapies in Newcastle

Redesigning Children's Therapies in Newcastle

right

Our parents and carers told us the system:

  • Can feel disjointed and fragmented

  • Can take too long to get support

  • Can lack communication between services and with families

What could a new system look like?

  • Integrated services

  • A one stop shop

  • An online referral system

  • Children and family centred

  • A range of early support options

  • Building partnerships

By listening to our parents and carers, we are determined to redesign and rebuild the system in a way that works for children and young people in Newcastle.

We want to create a system that we can all be collectively proud of. A system that we know will respond to the needs of children, young people and their families in a timely and joined up approach. We know that there are no shortcuts to making this happen - the process will take time and dedication because there are so many organisations involved. We are committed to getting it right and involving you in the process.

These are the organisations who are involved:

  • Newcastle City Council

  • Integrated Care Board

  • Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals (NHS Foundation Trust)

  • Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (NHS Foundation Trust)

  • Primary Care Networks (NHS)

  • Children and Families Newcastle

  • Education professionals- including nursery, primary, secondary, special and post 16

  • Parent / carer forum

We know the expertise of parents and carers is so important in designing a system that works. We want you to be able to give your views and opinions at each step of the process.

To do this, we are:

  • Working with parent and carers in Newcastle

  • Creating a survey for parents and carers in the system. You can access this survey here https://forms.office.com/r/d4F3enuKp9

  • Committing to update the Local Offer page regularly

If you aren’t currently involved and have ideas about how best we can hear your views, please fill in your contact details here https://forms.office.com/r/gWwwPFDfjW
