The Newcastle Careers and Guidance Team

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Support, Assessment and Review Team (SEND SAR Team)

At some point during their education, many children will have some kind of special educational need. Help is usually provided in the child or young person's mainstream early education setting or school. Sometimes this involves the help of external specialist.

Newcastle SEND Advice and Support Allocation Panel (SEND ASAP) | Newcastle Support Directory is to provide free specialist advice and guidance to support mainstream inclusion. This panel deals with referrals to the support services below.

SEND Outreach Service

SEND Outreach Service | Newcastle Support Directory provides support to help children access learning and make progress in their school or setting. They advise and provide a range of training to staff to enable them to plan appropriate interventions and support packages for children with SEND. Referrals are through the SEND ASAP | Newcastle Support Directory.

SEND Outreach Service - Social Emotional and Mental Health

SEND Outreach Service - Social Emotional and Mental Health | Newcastle Support Directory are Specialist Nursery Nurses within the SEND Outreach service. They work specifically with children with Social Emotional and Mental Health challenges and accepts referrals from SEND ASAP | Newcastle Support Directory.

Newcastle Educational Psychology Service

Newcastle Educational Psychology Service | Newcastle Support Directory Educational Psychologists work with the City’s children and young people, aged 0 to 25 years, who have Special Educational Needs and can be accessed via SEND ASAP | Newcastle Support Directory.

SEND Sensory Service

SEND Sensory Service | Newcastle Support Directory is a team of specialist teachers and support staff who work across the city with children and young people with Hearing Impairment (HI), Vision Impairment (VI) and Multi-sensory Impairment (MSI)

Hearing Impairment Team

Hearing Impairment Team | Newcastle Support Directory referrals are from the Ear Nose and Throat Department and the Audiology Department Freeman Hospital.

Newcastle Children’s Vision Team

Newcastle Children’s Vision Team | Newcastle Support Directory The majority of referrals come from health (Ophthalmology). However, we do operate an open referral system that allows anyone to refer, including parents. If you have any concern regarding your child’s vision please contact your health visitor or GP first.
