What we do
We work with schools to help them to get it right for children and young people with SEND. We work closely with the special educational needs coordinator (SENCO). We give the SENCO support and advice but will also challenge them when needed. Our two lead SENCOs work in their own schools and also work with us to support other schools.
We keep SENCOs and schools up to date with what is happening in SEND in the local authority, the region and across the country. One of the ways of doing this is by having SENCO network meetings every half term.
We are always looking for good practice to share. Some of our work is with groups of SENCOs across the city. This is another way of sharing good practice and help our schools to get better at what they do for children and young people with SEND.
