This pre-school playgroup opened in February 2015 for children from 2 years to school age. We are situated in Woodlands Children's Centre, High Heaton, a purpose built children's centre next to Heaton Library and the Spinney. We offer a fun and stimulating environment with superb indoor and outdoor spaces for the children to play. I am a qualified nursery nurse and ofsted registered childminder graded good with in excess of 27 years post qualifying experience, caring for children from birth to 12 years. Scotswood Village Nursery is a setting based in the West End of Newcastle, which provides high quality care and early education for children aged 2-4 years.

At St Gabriels we promote learning through play. We feel it is important for children of all ages to be encouraged to explore and develop their own thinking. Developing an inquisitive mind will in turn enable children to become problem solvers to discover and learn at their own pace.

Free Spirits is a purpose built modular building that is set within the grounds of Freeman Hospital.  We have excellent facilities including 6 spacious rooms two garden/ play areas.  Children are looked after by caring well qualified and experienced staff who plan play and learning experiences around the needs of each child individually.  We follow the EYFS curriculum and ensure that children are given the best possible opportunities to reach their full potential.

I provide a large playroom with a range of toys and activities for all ages and stages of development. I also have a large garden with a selection of outdoor toys for children to play with. 

At my setting, children can choose from a range of activities including play-dough, dressing up, arts and crafts, small world play, baking and much more. 

We go on outings every day to various places including parks, toddler groups, softplay, museums and the beach.

We are based within the Denton and Westerhope Sure Start Building. We have an enclosed part-covered outdoor area, We now have a new enclosed outdoor area at the front of the building with a mud kitchen plus a grassed area with a pirate boat, steering sit on frame, slide and picnic benches. We have 10 staff and are open for 5 mornings and 5 afternoons sessions term time only. We also offer some full time places as well for older children.

We have a wide range of equipment including soft play equipment and a smart board.
