The Lighthouse Project arose from our passion for working with young people on the Byker Estate and the frustration with the lack of purpose-built facilities in the area to support this work. Our mission was to create an inspiring youth and community space in the heart of Byker that will support quality youth and community engagement and have a lasting impact on the community of Byker for many years to come.
We aim to:
We run drop in and closed groups for children and young people. Some of these are focused around a particular activity (such as Sporty Legs, where we play sports and explore faith together) and others are focused around a particular location (like the Byker and Walker bubbles that currently meet once a week). We even run a bible study using board games to explore faith! All these spaces are shaped by the young people that attend, and include space to have fun, learn new skills, and grow together. We also run toddler groups for families with younger children.
Join us for a fun and engaging experience at the Youth Group (for ages 6-14, low/medium needs).
Meet new friends, participate in activities, and grow together in a supportive environment. Activities include:
-
arts and crafts
-
cooking and baking
-
board games
-
video games
-
pool, air hockey and table football
Only £12 for 3 hours of fun and games.

We are a local charity working with those who need us most. Many are from the estate, but we are targeting a wider remit now, as we grow and are able to offer more services for young people.
We run youth clubs for young people aged between 5-18 where young people can take part in activities such as cooking, making music in our music studio, arts and crafts and playing pool and PS4. These are on evenings in our base in Pottery Bank.
