YMCA Newcastle is a community hub for young people. They run a range of activities throughout the week. Their youth workers are trained to offer confidential support and advice to young people. They can support you with any issues you may have and refer you to other services if needed. You can phone or visit their office in Walker for help with:
We run drop in and closed groups for children and young people. Some of these are focused around a particular activity (such as Sporty Legs, where we play sports and explore faith together) and others are focused around a particular location (like the Byker and Walker bubbles that currently meet once a week). We even run a bible study using board games to explore faith! All these spaces are shaped by the young people that attend, and include space to have fun, learn new skills, and grow together. We also run toddler groups for families with younger children.
Tyneside Outdoors (TO) provides out-of-doors fun activities in and around Tyneside for young people aged 11 - 16 years old. We meet each week in local parks, playing a range of games and activities and also take part in regular trips and activities at other local places, such as the beach or other countryside spaces. We also provide bike activities such as BMX, Mountain Biking and bike repair activities.

This is a warm, caring and kind place to be because:
- We offer small group work and activities
- Parents/carers are welcome to have a pre-visit and to discuss individual needs prior to the activities
We work with children and young people age 8-25 offering group activity sessions based on their age, one to one support, detached work and offsite activities.

We take unwanted bikes and repair them so that they can be used again. On Saturdays we run a group for young people to learn about bike mechanics, build confidence, and learn new skills. There is a waiting list for the group, but please get in touch if you are interested.
